The Fostech Origin 12 is easily one of the coolest and most iconic new shotgun designs to come out in the last 10 years. Often referred to as the fastest cycling shotgun in the world, there are a lot of awesome ideas that went into this firearm. The Origin 12 gained pop culture fandom when it was included as a usable gun in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare / COD: Warzone in 2019. Does the Origin 12 live up to the hype in real life?
This is the 1st video in my 3-video series in search of a reliable and fun magazine fed semi-auto shotgun. Make sure to check out my videos on the K-USA Komrad 12 and Genesis Arms Gen-12 for the full story.

Unfortunately for me, it did not. Not yet, anyway. I experienced a large number of failures that are detailed throughout the video, most of which I do not believe should be indicative of what this shotgun is capable of. I have been in touch with Fostech's Customer Service Department, and so far they have been helpful and friendly. Response times via phone and e-mail have been within 24 hours - which is perfectly acceptable to me given that they are a small family-owned company. They sent me a prepaid shipping label and it has been sent back to Fostech for Warranty repair. The estimated turnaround time provided was 20 business days. I very much look forward to hearing their analysis of the failures, and to receiving my Origin 12 back from Fostech in hopefully perfect working order so I can give it the video it deserves.
I had very high hopes for this shotgun - from an engineering standpoint, there are so many cool ideas on display here. It is a semi-automatic magazine fed shotgun built around the AK platform with a wide variety of interesting modernizations and features. In particular, the infinitely adjustable gas system was one of the primary selling factors to me, as it is advertised as being able to help the Origin 12 run a huge variety of ammo from some low brass bird shot to just about any high brass buckshot and slugs you could throw at it. It also has a full suite of ambidextrous controls and feels surprisingly ergonomic given its size and weight.
While I was very disappointed with the performance in this first range session, I am hopeful that Fostech will be able to get it running the way I expected it to from all the research I had done prior to purchasing it. Rest assured I will keep everyone updated and will plan on filming a new video when it is returned so you can hopefully see it running the way it was truly meant to.
I have a TON of videos in the works here - remember to like and subscribe, and thanks a lot for stopping by!
