| Video Discription | The 1993 Indianapolis 500 Pole Day crowd did not expect to see the end of an era, but the legendary four-time "500" winner A.J. Foyt made a difficult and emotional decision that created such a moment. After his teammate and rookie driver Robby Gordon spun in the morning warmup, Foyt decided it was time to put full focus on running his team. After a record-35 Indianapolis 500 starts going back to 1958, and to a standing ovation, Foyt took a final lap around the iconic 2.5-mile Brickyard and called it a career. The Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum is one of the world's premier destinations dedicated to the preservation and interpretation of motorsports competition and motor vehicles, with emphasis on the history of the Indianapolis 500-Mile Race. The Museum, located inside the 2.5-mile Indianapolis Motor Speedway oval, is open 363 days per year (except Thanksgiving and Christmas) and offers year-round IMS track tours (pending weather and track availability).
