The interview was conducted by NEC’s then-Vice President of Marketing and Communications, Carol Phelan, with additional input from Andrew Hurlbut. Initially focused on the founding in 1972 of NEC’s Third Stream department (later renamed Contemporary Improvisation and now known as Contemporary Musical Arts) during Schuller's presidency, the interview also touched upon the earlier founding of the Jazz Studies program, along with other topics. |
