| Video Discription | Paranoia in the Soviet Union was at its height in 1983 when NATO began a series of war games that would last the year. Able Archer 83 was a "tabletop" nuclear war game within the highest levels of government. However, in this cold war environment, it nearly took a dark turn. The new leaders of the Soviet Union and the United States did little to ease tensions as both pressed tier counterpart with rhetoric and brinkmanship. In this environment, any misinterpretation could lead to war.
