| Video Discription | The explosion of digital information offers an unprecedented opportunity to study the dynamics that shape human understanding, investigation and certainty. Knowledge Lab researchers at the University of Chicago are developing new Big Data, machine learning and crowd-sourcing approaches and techniques to: -Efficiently harvest and share knowledge and judgment from experts, people, articles, preprints, software, patient records, artifacts, videos and sensors -Learn how knowledge is made, used, certified and forgotten Represent, recombine and generate knowledge in powerful ways -Improve knowledge generation, representation, management and innovation practices everywhere. Knowledge Lab is directed by James Evans (featured in this video). James is Associate Professor of Sociology at the University of Chicago and a Fellow in the Computation Institute. With funding from the John Templeton Foundation, Knowledge Lab has organized a Metaknowledge Network, a community of researchers from the University of Chicago, Argonne National Laboratory, Stanford University, Northwestern University, the University of California, Los Angeles, University of Washington, University of Wisconsin, Princeton University and Harvard University. Knowledge Lab is also home to post-doctoral scholars in Mathematics and Computer Science. |
