She says, "When Mr. Maniratnam's associate Priya narrated the story to me I liked it immensely and I also had the wish to be a film director but when I heard this story I felt that I would like to direct this and I made a decision.I have not left acting I will be doing both together because you have to work a lot to direct a film from script to shooting and beyond that. When I started there was no women crew it was just like to make a film and Priya narrated the script and Sudha who works in our office wrote the dialogues along with Priya. Fauzia, assistant to P. C. Sriram came into the film and one of my friend Prabha came for costume designing. It was just friends and people whom I knew so it became a women crew. It was very nice."
