While most funds in the ELSS category have large-cap heavy portfolios with around 60-75% allocation to large caps and remaining to mid and small caps, this has a major allocation to mid-caps. The fund was launched in 2001 and today has an AUM of INR 12,900 cr. The fund follows a strategy of primarily investing in papers with the highest credit rating. It has over 80% allocation to AAA and A1+ rated borrowers. This ensures the credit risk i.e. the risk of borrowers not repaying the money or interest is kept to the minimum. It also keeps its lending duration low to avoid the risk of interest rate changes keeping its Its 1-year returns of 7.84% are around 1.5% more than the category average The fund's 3-year returns of 7.72% have also beaten both category average and benchmark returns 👉 Aditya Birla Sun Life Corporate Bond Fund Aditya Birla Sun Life Corporate Bond Fund is a debt fund and as the name suggests, is a corporate bond fund. The fund was launched in 1997 and today it has an AUM of over Rs. 20,000 crores. Now corporate bond funds by regulation have to invest at least 80% of the money in AAA i.e. highest rated bonds and hence the fund has around 90% of its money lent to highly rated companies and the government. This ensures the credit risk the fund carries is controlled well. The fund has delivered a 3-year return of 8.90%. It has beaten both its category average and benchmark returns in 1, 3, and 5-year returns by a good margin.
