| Video Discription | The video tells a rather different sequence of events following Operation Blue Star and leading upto the rebuilding and reconstruction of the building of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, the holy seat of Sikh spiritual and panthic command. As it happened, the Indira Gandhi Government went ahead to reconstruct Sri Akal Takht building destroyed during 1984 Operation Blue Star through Nihang chief Baba Santa Singh who was considered to be a protege of Congress leaders especially Giani Zail Singh. Propped up by Buta Singh, Union Minister in Indira government, Baba Santa Singh led the Kar Sewa boycotted by entire Sikh community following operation Blue Star. As Indira denied Sikhs the right to reconstruct Sri Akal Takht, in 1986 militants and SGPC called for destruction of newly built up Akal Takht Building and re initiated the process of reconstructing Akal Takht for a second time in 1986 almost over a year and a half after it had been rebuilt by government sponsored Nihang followers led by Baba Santa Singh. |
