It's considered as autoinflammatory disease which means there's some impairment in the innate immunity. It is not an autoimmune disease. Genetic mutation is one of the cause for recurrent fevers. Age of onset is usually two to five years. However it decreases after the age of 10. So when it comes to symptoms children will have recurrent episodes of fevers there is Aphthous ulcers.
