Westward Distillery is located in the main barley growing area of Portland, Oregon. So it stands to reason that local barley malt is also used to make whiskey. Westward, one of the few US single malts, is produced according to strict criteria that are very similar to those used for scotch. After the double pot still distillation, the malt matures for at least three years in fresh American white oak barrels and is then bottled in small batches.
