The theatre of Marcellus is about 100 years older than the Colosseum. And the Colosseum was inspired by this very building! In fact the design of the arches is quite similar, with the difference that the Colosseum arches are wider Next to the theatre you’ll find more ruins, such as the three columns of the Temple of Apollo. This very area was where the military parades started in Ancient Rome! The parades would start from here to then continue to the Circo Massimo, then walk past the Colosseum, through the Roman Forum and up to the Capitoline hill, where they ended at the temple of Jupiter Capitolinus Another ruin you’ll find here is the monumental entrance of the Portico d’Ottavia.
