KS Chitra is a popular Indian playback singer who has lent her voice to numerous songs in various Indian languages like Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Hindi, Bengali, Oriya, Gujarati, and Marathi. She has won several awards for her contribution to Indian music, including six National Film Awards and several Filmfare Awards. Born on July 27, 1963, in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, India, Chitra started singing at a young age and made her debut as a playback singer in 1979 with the Malayalam film "Attahasam." She rose to fame with her song "Kannu Thurakkan" from the film "Kudumbini" in 1984. Since then, she has recorded songs for over 20,000 film songs and albums in various languages. Some of her popular songs include "Maniye Manikuyile" from the Tamil film "Nenjathai Killathe," "Pachai Nirame" from the Tamil film "Alaipayuthey," "Yeh Haseen Wadiyan" from the Hindi film "Roja," "Rasathi" from the Tamil film "Thiruda Thiruda," and "Aadivasi Manushyan" from the Malayalam film "Perumazhakkalam." Apart from playback singing, Chitra has also released several albums of devotional songs and has performed in various concerts across the world. Her contribution to Indian music has earned her numerous accolades and recognition both in India and abroad.
