This is a touchy technique and it takes time to perfect. Specimens rotting is common when using alcohol because it is not fast acting. If you have the patience and are willing to lose a few specimens this method can work for you. I decided to perfect this method as I do not have any desire to work with formalin. I have successfully preserved hundreds of specimens with this method with animals as large as a guinea pig without any rotting issues after years of being kept. bright specimens will lose most, if not all color when being wet preserved When using formalin to inject, you will fill the jar with formalin until it is preserved, and then you will change its storage medium to 70% ISO Alcohol |
