| Video Discription | Home sales are going down yet home prices are still going up in California. For example, 62% of California’s counties experienced a decrease in home sales in March 2024 compared to a year ago. This is alarming given the fact there’s 25% more homes for sale in California from last year (i.e. more inventory doesn’t appear to be helping increase home sales). Also, in the face of 7%+ mortgage rates, it’s quite remarkable that home prices keep climbing. For instance, 74% of the counties in California posted a gain in their median sold price from a year ago while 13 counties recorded a decrease in their median price. I share these trends and much more for each of the counties in California that the California Association of Realtors (CAR) tracks.
