| Video Discription | A player catches the ball and holds it for a moment, then fakes right before taking two dribbles left then three long strides to the rim. That play essentially started from scratch, what did the pass have to do with the rest of the play? What's the difference between that and a guy who dribbles to the top of the key, fakes left, then goes right? The pass had nothing to do with the score. And yet today, that is an assist. Call an assist whatever you want, but if we're gonna compare stats today to stats of yesterday we must acknowledge that the definition of the stat changed and thus the comparison is now moot.
