Glenmorgan is a village located at a distance of 25 kilometers from Ooty. This place is known for its tea estates which includes one of the oldest tea estates in the region known as the Glenmorgan tea estate. Glenmorgan was used as a picnic spot by tourists and offers panoramic views of the Mudumalai National Park, Mysore, the Moyar valley and the power house at Singara. Presently tourists are not allowed and it seems the rope car is not operated. We need prior permission to visit Glen Morgan, Ooty. Avalanche Lake: Avalanche Lake Ooty is a famous tourist spot in the Nilgiris district, away from the bustling traffic. Avalanche Lake Ooty makes the perfect setting for a family and adventure package. If you are wondering how the lake landed with such a name, it is a misnomer because it was formed by a huge landslide and not an avalanche. You find large varieties of flowers, like magnolias and rhododendrons blooming on all sides of the lake. The waterfalls rushing down the nearby mountains further add to the beauty of this already alluring landscape. Emerald Lake – It is a lovely lake surrounded by dense forests, situated about 5 km from Avalanche Lake in Ooty. Apart from the clear, blue water, the tea estates and the mountains around amplify the beauty of the location. You can also enjoy spectacular sunrise and sunset at the Emerald Lake. Tribal Museum: One of the most well maintained and well organized museums you find in Ooty, the Ooty Tribal Research Center is more than just a museum displaying pre historic artifacts and stuffed animals. This place does serious research on the tribes inhabiting South India and the Andaman and Nicobar islands. The research center in Ooty maintains records on all the social, cultural, economic and religious activities of the tribals.
