We had to take tickets form the new ticket counter opened for Safari at Bandipur few months back before Bandipur jungle lodges and resorts hotel near Khan's gufa restaurant. We have also visited Asia's oldest elephant camp at Theppakadu inside Mudumalai tiger reserve forest. Here the famous elephants Raghu and Ammu stays, yes, they are the same elephant shown in the 2023 Oscar wining documentary movie The Elephant whisperer. To visit this elephant camp you have to take a ticket which cost around 25 rupees. Since we are staying in Masinagudi log house which is a government accommodation of Mudumalai tiger reserve forest, it’s free for us. This elephant camp was established in 1972 in Mudumalai Range. It has 28 elephants including 2 calves at present. In this elephant camp elephants are mainly used for Forest Mansoon patrolling, eco-tourism, elephant conservation, Education etc. This place become more famous post PM Modi visits to Bandipur & Mudumalai reserves.
