| Video Discription | Thousands rallied across Bangladesh, Tuesday, demanding that the government allows the ailing former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia to seek treatment abroad. Zia, widely considered a rival of current Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, was put in critical care earlier this month. Doctor A.Z.M. Zahid Hossain says Zia is suffering from liver disease, chronic kidney disease and a heart complaint in addition to diabetes and rheumatoid arthritis. According to Hossain, Zia is critically ill and needs treatment from more developed countries. Zia was jailed in February 2018 on corruption charges, where her health deteriorated. She was released in March of 2019 but she has since been barred from flying abroad. (AFP) |
