5. Enjoy Ibiza Restaurants
Along the pristine beaches of Ibiza are walkways lined with picture-perfect restaurants serving up wonderful food. But within the streets of Ibiza town are perhaps the most spectacular eateries that highlight traditional Spanish Tapas and Paellas with Sangrias or Tinto de Verano - as well as creative takes on local meats, fruits and vegetables. Breakfast, however, is a small snack to Spaniards. For those who still seek it, here are a few spots for a morning meal - as well as our favorite dinner restaurant on the island.
4. Dance at a World Famous Club
It is here in on the island that you will find world famous clubs, including Hï Ibiza and Ushuaïa - places where some of the biggest music events in Europe are hosted. You will find top performers such as David Guetta, Calvin Harris, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike. This is your opportunity to experience a dance music party like no other on earth.
3. Visit Santa Eulària & Es Canar
Santa Eulària and Es Canar are two beautiful coastal towns just 5 km apart and less than 20 km from Ibiza Town. Apart from water views and tasty restaurants, they each have a unique experience awaiting you.
Puig de Missa
Puig de Missa is a stunning fortified church perched atop a hill within Santa Eulària. This 16th century structure is built upon ruins resulting from pirate attacks. Now, it is the embodiment of the town’s resilience, showcasing a simple yet elegant chapel protected from Barbary pirates with the use of cannons protruding from a defense tower. It is also the perfect summit from which to view the charming streets and picturesque landscape below.
Hippy Market
Within the town of Es Canar is the world famous Hippy Market: a sprawling, maze-like festival of goods that was started back in 1973. It extends through white-washed buildings over the grounds of the Hotel Cala Martina. You will find nearly 500 vendors selling clothing, crafts, jewelry, antiques, and other products to as many as 10,000 visitors a day. From April to October it runs throughout the entire day on Wednesday and part-day on Friday.
2. Experience Ibiza Town & Dalt Vila
The most dramatic ancient shrines and elegant, dreamy architecture can be found wandering through Ibiza Town on your way to Dalt Vila. Dalt Vila is a most impressive fortified town. If you peruse the streets on foot, be prepared for some climbing as the neighborhood sits atop a small seaside mountain. Along the way you will find cobblestone streets, cozy bars, shops, sidewalk cafes and art galleries. When you reach the mountaintop, you’ll be greeted with viewpoints that will leave you breathless. And all of this military setting surrounds the iconic and beautiful Ibiza Cathedral, a stunning 13th century church.
Ibiza Cathedral
The parish at what is now the Ibiza Cathedral was first established in 1235. Within two hundred years five chapels were created and dedicated to church patriarchs ranging from Saint James to John the Baptist. A very solid building, it took on the Catalan Gothic style in the 16th century and went through further refurbishments in the 18th century. Today the cathedral hosts many notable works of art and provides stunning views of the town below.
1. Find Inner Peace at Es Vedrà
Es Vedrà is an uninhabited rocky island off the southwestern seaboard of Ibiza. Standing over 400 meters tall, it is recognized as one the world’s top spiritual vortices. A vortex is an area of concentrated energy conducive to healing, meditation, and self-reflection. They emanate a feeling of calmness that allows one to get in touch with their spirituality.
This particular vortex is made of a massive limestone similar to that of other powerful spots like the Egyptian Pyramids, Stonehenge, and the Mayan ruins of Tulum, Mexico. Some believe it to be the tip of the lost city of Atlantis - or perhaps the birthplace of Phoenician goddess Tanit. Some have claimed to see UFOs flying above it and strange objects swimming nearby. Leaving compasses spinning and birds disoriented, specialists have declared Es Vedrà as the third most magnetic spot in the world, only behind the Bermuda Triangle and the North Pole. |
