With the counting of votes underway in the Maharashtra Civic polls and Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) polls 2017, Shiv Sena was seen leading. The prime focus is on the cash-rich 227-member Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation with the ruling BJP and Shiv Sena at the forefront of this battle of might. Mumbai stepped out to vote on Tuesday, breaking a 25-year record, with a polling percentage of 55. The poll battle between the Shiv Sena and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to control the country’s richest civic body polarised the city. Both the parties spurred their voters to come out and vote. The spike in voting percentage was across the city, but areas and residents traditionally seen as politically apathetic also turned a corner.
