Welcome to Bowlers Paradise! For the fourth time, Track has rounded out the bottom of their lineup with an all new Tundra. This blue fire iteration features a slightly upgraded DR-6 Hk22 Pearl cover and is powered inside by the no nonsense high rg and low differential track symmetrical core. For the layout, I decided to go with a 4x4x4 2LS layout. This is just about as strong as I can drill a bowling ball, but I know this is going to be the get left and swing it when they're fried piece. When I'm in that spot, I don't want it to have any quit in it so this layout is meant to let it be the best piece it can be when its the right piece. AND ON THE LANES…The tundra blue fire provided a great shape that in reality, very few bowlers will appreciate. This piece sits at a highly contested price point in the market and even though its right on par with the hustles in terms of performance, it lacks the wow factor to get into most people's arsenals. However, I have to say that this is going to be a great tournament piece. It's got a good balance of control & pop off the spot. It doesn't do anything crazy as it's a very simple motion with simple colors, but when the lanes are tough, this one will treat you well. But on the list of downsides, we can be honest, its kind of boring. If I were just a traditional league bowler, this one probably wouldn't register with me unless I was a beginner looking to get into that second tier of bowling ball. Not every ball needs to have a ton of shelf appeal, but the truth of the matter is that the market for this piece is small. However, If you're cool with boring shapes, I think pairing this one with the Track Theorem and the Ebonite GB5 would give you a really well balanced set of 3 options. All 3 of these pieces can be used all over the lane, so you have to understand your shapes the see the best results, but those that can execute good shots will likely be rewarded in droves by this arsenal build. Jumping to our crossbrand comparisons, I first took a look at the Lightning Blackout from Storm, and here I see a subtle difference between this one and the tundra with the Tundra actually being a touch stronger front to back and therefore rounder overall, but the biggest difference here is the price. There's a $75 price gap between these two, so if you see that much of a performance increase, the lightning blackout might be the one for you. Then we took a look at the Hyper Venom from Motive and this one is also a bit cleaner, but when it spins up downlane and the change of direction comes into play, core rolls it forward towards pocket. The Tundra blue fire is rounder and boomier off the spot because of its much higher RG. But with that, here’s my recommendations on types of bowlers that I think would match up well with this piece. The first is budding tournament bowlers. These types of pieces make cuts, and cuts make money. For the price, the performance and arsenal fit of the tundra blue fire is hard to beat. The second recommendation is for low tilt players. Shiny, low differential pieces like this almost never roll out, and that's a primary concern for low tilt players. This piece will work great for these players both on fresh and burned conditions as it clears the front part of the lane easily without creating too much angle downlane. The all new Track Tundra Blue Fire might not have a ton of wow factor, but in the right hands, could be the heat you need to cook your competition.
