First—I both love and hate these builds—but I’m obsessed with them. If you’ve ever attempted to use ‘incomplete connections’ you know how fascinating/frustrating they can be. The 1x6 ring came together relatively easily, rolling around in my studio for more than a week before filming. But when I took it apart… it just didn’t want to go back together. Fail after fail after fail. (There’s an engineering/construction video there.) When I finally reconstructed it I was sure it would implode with every roll and spin in the video—and yet it didn’t. It’s still intact to this day. ‘Finicky’ is the world I would use to describe it, but it’s more about the need of having a perfect array of aligned, incomplete connections with very few ‘bad’ plates with low clutch power in the mix. It takes patience and luck to make it work.
However, the 1x12 ring—that’s a whole different monster. I had a delusional hope that the full ring could free stand AND roll—but you can see how it crushes under its own weight when vertical, even when reinforced with shrink wrap (so classy). This is a shame as it would be AMAZING to watch and listen that creature roll. This is one of the first times I’ve ever considered using the kragle...but it’s not that tempting. : )
And as for the final ‘towers’ they are just simple sub-sections of the 1x12 ring stacked up. The first has 24 layers per typical curve, and the second has 12. How different they look, and how strange. But caveman appreciated them--he always does.
It’s very safe to say I am not done in this space, but my frustration levels are high enough that I’m done for a while at least.

And one final note/fair warning: Incomplete connections very much rely on the clutch power of LEGO elements. Some elements, or even some element colors, have poor clutch power. I’ve tried to make circles out of some specific pieces only to fail miserably with zero success—they simply won’t partially connect, which is sad.
