There are 7 clefs, and without them, we can't even give a name to a note! Their symbol and position on the stave give us one key pitch, from which we can name all the other keys. Remember my three memo-rhymes to identify this key note quickly, and you won't struggle anymore to name the notes on a stave. Draw it from the second line and the treble clef is fine. The bass clef has dots, the others have not. If the pitch you want to know, middle C, are you above or below?
