Please share your thoughts in the comment box below! ***Disclaimer: It is worth noting that Bach originally notated the Prelude from Suite No.6 using alto and bass clef, as indicated in the Anna Magdalena manuscript. The use of the tenor clef in this Suite only first appeared in editions from the early 1800’s. The idea of alternating clefs serves the same purpose in both instances, but the choice of original clef shouldn’t be ignored. Maybe it also gives different information, perhaps part of a picture of what instrument might have been imagined. But that could be for another time...
