Is this the best cat exercise wheel you can buy? Let's watch the review to find out!
Cats need stimulation and exercise, and this cat wheel will provide both! This product was sent to us in return for our honest review! The kitties of RFSCats are putting this wheel to the test! None of these cats have ever seen or attempted a cat wheel before, so you are seeing this as they experience it! As you can see, they are very interested in it. By using things like treats, toys, catnip, and a laser pointer, you can slowly entice your cats to check out this wheel. As with anything new, it will take time for your cats to adjust to this and really start running on it! Start off slow, do not force your cats! Overtime, they will start using this all on their own!
This wheel is a lot larger than we expected, which is great as all of our cats, from the little ones to the big boy Topo fit on this wheel! You can see here, when we spin the wheel without the cats on it, it moves very smoothly, and it’s pretty quiet! It’s a solid build, and very sturdy! I love that the wheel itself has carpet on it, as this allows your cat to grip this as they run on it!
This wheel needs to be assembled when it arrives. The directions were fairly easy to follow, but it does take some time to put together properly. Follow the instructions, and take your time. There are quite a few parts to this! The wheel alone is 24 panels that need to be assembled! A good tip is to lay out all of the parts in alphabetical order to help you find things easier. In total, this took us just over 2 hours to assemble, but again, we took our time with it to make sure we did everything properly. A power or electric screwdriver would probably make this process even faster!
Once it’s all set up, don’t expect your cats to just come running! As we said early, it will take time for them to adjust to this. Leave it in an area where they can check it out. The wheel itself does have a locking break, so you can stop the wheel from moving. We recommend you do this while your cats are checking it out. You don’t want it to just start moving when they aren’t ready for it, as that could scare your cats, and you will have to start the teaching process all over again! Take it slow, line the wheel with treats or catnip.
This wheel has been set up for a few weeks, and the cats are still getting used to it, but they aren’t scared of it. With a bit of patience, and training, your cats will eventually work up the kitty courage to get out some energy and trot or run on this wheel!
In conclusion, this wheel is very large, which is nice as it allows your cats to run in a natural stride, it’s sturdy, and I love that it has the brake to stop it from moving when you want it to be still. If you are looking for a great cat wheel for your cats, we recommend this!
