In this video we are looking at a ceramic coating that was applied to this Toyota Sequoia 18 months ago and totally failed in that time. To set up the context, this Toyota was repainted around 30 days before it was coated, and because the car was literally just completely repainted at a paint and body shop, we did not do any polishing before applying the ceramic coating... only the proper preparation and decontamination. The ceramic coating we applied is from G techniq, their Crystal Serum Lite with the EXO topper. This Sequoia was not maintained on a regular basis. We did very few ceramic coating maintenance washes and did not apply any ceramic coating toppers. The vehicle sits outside year round, in the heat, in the cold, and sometimes under trees, etc... We can see clearly that after 18 months of this (as it is a daily driver), the ceramic coating virtually failed completely. Why do we do experiments like this and track ceramic coatings over the long term? Because it's the best way to get REAL WORLD data on exactly how long ceramic coatings last, what the real ceramic coating durability is in YOUR PARTICULAR CONDITIONS... and more than anything, we can speak clearly and accurately to any detailing customer we have about ceramic coatings, their limitations given the specific situation, and ultimately understand ceramic coatings and the specific ceramic coating we are using at a much higher level.
