And the masterstroke - using the unconventional voice of Chandrashekhar Gadgil for the song. A true classic! This version got into the released records of HMV. In the film, of course, we hear three antaras in Mohd Rafi's voice - apparently, director Chetan Anand forced Pancham to re-record the song in Rafi's voice for the film. And we all know how the great singer refused to sing the last (fourth) antara once he came to know (during a break) that the song had earlier been recorded in a new singer's voice. Sharing the LP record version - HMV gave us a very nice audio experience. |
