So peaceful and tranquil in the day and so lively when the bars and restaurants open in the evening. Located just across the road from Raffles Hotel and Raffles City, it's the place to go when you are in Singapore. CHIJMES is pronounced as CHIMES. It's an acronym for - Convent of the Holy Infant Jesus Middle Education School. This first CHIJ school was established in 1854. It was acquired by the government, gazetted as a national monument and extensively restored as a commercial complex with a function hall (CHIJMES Event Hall) for performances and weddings in 1996.
