The visit has riled up China, which lays claim to Tibet and sees the Dalai Lama as a 'dangerous separatist'. But even before the visit, the US Congress passed the Resolve Tibet Act, calling for a peaceful resolution of the dispute over the status of Tibet. US President Joe Biden has to sign the bill to make it an Act. Speaking to CNN-News18, Tenzin Lekshay, the spokesperson for the Central Tibetan Administration, praised the bill as groundbreaking. Lekshay said Tibet's longstanding demand has been to seek autonomy, not independence.
