| Video Discription | Dr Padma Sugavanam is an A-graded (All India Radio) carnatic vocalist trained in the Sri Semmangudi Srinivasa Iyer 'bani' for over 20 years. She also holds a PhD in Sanskrit and Musicology from the Madras University. This is a recording of 'Eduttanunnadu' - a composition on Lord Krishna by Annamacharya - sung under the lighting of beautiful oil lamps. This was recorded in an early morning chamber concert 'Prabhaat', in Chennai, in Jan 2016. Light and Dark are opposite ends of the spectrum - and in this composition, Annamacharya has described the expanse of divinity as spanning the extremes such as "Master of the Universe" and "Simple cowherd". It is a very beautiful and evocative composition set to Raga Bhujangini. |
