Get expensive brand drugs for $0-$25 with manufacturer co-pay patient assistance programs. See over 700 drug maker offers on drugcardadvisor.com
If you watch morning TV, evening news, late night, or your favorite political talk shows, you can’t escape the commercials for automobiles and medication. On average over 80 drug commercials air an hour on network TV. But unlike the incentive offers from your Ford or Chevy dealer, you’ll never see a sale on the expensive drugs being advertised.
I was astounded by the price of some of these advertised drugs.
One injection of SPINRAZA costs over $120,000, HARVONI – over $37,000, SOVALDI – over $35,000, and TALTZ – almost $20,000. Who can afford prices like these? Even if you have insurance, the copay (or your out-of-pocket costs) can still be beyond your reach to afford these medications.
I put together a list of over 700 brand named medications where the drug maker’s offer copay assistance to help put the cost of these medications within reach. If you have insurance you can take advantage of the copay assistance programs compiled on my website DRUGCARDADVISOR.COM. I provide links to all the drug manufacturer’s offers.
With HARVONI and SOVALDI for instance, you’ll pay no more than $5 per prescription for up to 6 months. With TALTZ, you may pay as little as $5 per month.
And the best part is, with many of these programs they are not based on your ability (or inability) to pay – they’re offered to anyone with commercial insurance.
And if you’re UNINSURED, I have provided access to 3 popular discount drug cards for the same medications. Why 3 discount cards? Each of the discount cards use different PBMs and different PBMs provide different discounts.
I’ve compared the price of these 700 drugs using each discount drug card and provided a summary of the prices you should expect to pay at the pharmacy. The one with the lowest price is highlighted in green with a link to download the free drug card.
Unlike the manufacturer drug copay cards, the drug discount cards are not specific to any one drug – you can use them for all your FDA-approved medications.
What is the difference between a manufacturer copay card and a drug discount card?
A drug discount card lowers the pharmacies cash price on medications. A drug manufacturer copay card lowers the insurance copayment you are required to pay through your insurance company by applying additional money from the manufacturer to lower your out-of-pocket costs.
What is a drug copay (co-pay) card?
Drug copay card programs are provided by drug manufacturers to help patients afford the high cost of prescriptions by lowering their out-of-pocket costs for many expensive medications. The drug companies reduce the copay you pay through your insurance company by paying a portion of your copay for you. In many case the drug manufacturer pays the lion’s share of your copay.
For many people, a $50, $100, or $200 copay is simply out-of-reach however a $5 or $10 copay is affordable and puts the ability to get the needed drug well within their financial reach.
Manufacturer copay programs enable patients to get the medications they, or their physicians, prefer them to use without the high-copay penalties imposed on them by their insurance companies.
Although most copay card programs are available to patients with commercial or private insurance some offer cards to uninsured patients as well. These programs are not typically based on your financial situation or inability to pay for your medications so check them out! Enrollment into a manufacturer copay card program may be required to participate.
How do drug copay cards work?
Simply fill your prescription at your local pharmacy and provide your insurance card along with the manufacturer copay card. The pharmacist will process your prescription claim and use the information provided on copay card. Your insurance company will become the primary payer and the manufacturer offering the copay card will be used as the secondary insurer, thus reducing your out of pocket costs accordingly.
If you are uninsured, the copay card may be used to reduce your total out of pocket price. Use a discount drug card to reduce the price at the pharmacy as well. Some copay cards only work with insurance so check with the manufacturer for details.
So where can you get a drug copay card? Ask your physician for manufacturer copay cards on the brand medications they prefer you to take or click on the Drug Copay Card link on my website for your specific medication. DrugcardAdvisor.com provides links to over 700 copay card programs as well as many discount drug cards to lower your medication costs.
Thanks for watching. I hope I gave you some information you can use to save your hard-earned money when purchasing prescription drugs.
