The village, which still retains its harsh and primitive charm today, bears witness to a rural reality born over 700 years ago and then consolidated in 1822 when it became an independent municipality. Agriculture has been the only livelihood activity for centuries. In 1850 the population reached its peak with 315 inhabitants, but only 70 in 1950, thanks to the strong emigration to California and Australia. Currently the inhabitants are 11 and starting from April 2021 Corippo will be aggregated, as a fraction, to the new Municipality of Verzasca.
