| Video Discription | The federal government passed the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act also known as the CARES Act. It was signed into law by President Trump on March 27, 2020. And, the stated purpose is to provide relief from economic consequences of COVID-19. One of the ways that it does that is by expanding state UI programs. There are 3 new unemployment programs under the CARES Act: Federal Pandemic Unemployment Compensation (FPUC), which provides an additional $600 in weekly UI benefits; Pandemic Emergency Unemployment Compensation (PEUC), which provides up to 13 additional weeks of UI benefits; and Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA), which provides UI for individuals not eligible for regular UI or any extensions to Ui or who have exhausted UI benefits.
