| Video Discription | David Lyles’ Sewing Your Story program, Chapel Hill residents, and UNC-Chapel Hill students will gather at the Hargraves Center for the Three Seasons Fashion Show. The Hargraves Community Center is a long-standing symbol of racial equity. Open since 1942 the community center has been a safe space for African Americans in the area to socialize and organize recreational events and activities. And true to the purpose of this community center, The Three Seasons fashion show, hosted by David Lyle, brought the community together to showcase his creations. David's designs, modeled by UNC students, took to the runway of the community center to raise money for his “Sewing Your Story Program”. David's mother was a seamstress and he picked up the skill at a young age, but it wasn’t until he found himself homeless in 2016 that he mastered his craft in quilting. Now, through his class at the Hargraves Center, David teaches others how to quilt, He uses his skills as a vehicle to help others find peace and happiness through quilting. The fashion show was a great success, and much like the quilts behind all of it, we were sown together for a brief moment to share in his vision and successes, and that’s truly what a community is all about.
