However in the following year, he was pressurized by Shiv Sena to return his award. So what changed in a year? Answer is Kargil War. When Pakistan army breached into Indian borders on 03 May 1999, both the countries entered into a state of conflict. Tensions were running high in the country. Amidst all of this, Shiv Sena started pressurizing Dilip Kumar to return the Pakistani award and prove that he is a true Indian. Dilip Kumar lashed out at such comments and said that he was ready to sacrifice anything for his country. BJP General Secretary of the time Narendra Modi said that it should be left on actor’s wisdom whether he wants to return the award or not. Watch the video to know more.
