They prayed for decisive victories so that there would be peace. Da pacem, Domine, translated into English as "Give Peace O Lord.“ An antiphon of the 6th or 7th century. By a Bull of Pope Nicholas III, 1279, it was ordered to be sung at every mass before the Agnus Dei.
