| Video Discription | Baker Institute postdoctoral fellow Nathan Jones and South Texas College of Law (STCL) professor Dru Stevenson announce a new inter-institutional collaboration between STCL and the Baker Institute's Drug Policy Program As more and more states are considering the legislation of marijuana, law students at STCL will have the unique opportunity to draft model drug policy legislation. Beginning this fall, second and third-year STCL students will be able to take an upper-level elective course focused on researching and drafting legislation for states to use after legalizing the usage of marijuana. The students will draft statutes and commentary relating to critical regulatory issues such as taxation, liability, age requirements and licensing rules for dispensaries and sellers. Baker Institute Drug Policy Program fellows William Martin and Nathan Jones will lead the collaboration with Dru Stevenson, a professor at STCL who will be teaching the course. Moving forward, STCL and the Baker Institute plan to hold panel discussions and publish journal articles to widely share the course's findings, Stevenson said.
