Jawshan Kabeer is a comprehensive Islamic prayer encompassing the 1000 divine names and attributes of God. Dua e Jaushan Kabeer is a profoundly beautiful supplication that serves as a shield against life's challenges and a source of protection. Dua Al-Jawshan Al-Kabeer, also known as The Supplication of the Major Chain-Armour, has its roots in history. It is documented in the works of Balad al-Amin and the Misbah of Kafa`mi that Imam `Ali ibn al-Husain Sayyid as-Sajjidin inherited it from his father, who in turn received it from his grandfather, the Prophet of Allah. According to the tradition, Angel Jibra’il imparted this supplication to the Prophet during a pivotal battle. During one of these battles, the Prophet wore a remarkably heavy and expensive suit of armor for protection. The weight of the armor caused discomfort and pain. It was then that Angel Jibra’il appeared and conveyed the greetings of Allah, instructing the Prophet to recite the protective supplication, referred to as Jawshan. The Angel explained the profound significance of this supplication, which we'll summarize due to space constraints. It is worth noting that reciting this supplication with sincere intentions at the BEGINNING of the month of Ramadhan holds immense blessings. Allah promises sustenance on the Night of Power and appoints 70,000 Angels to engage in continuous praise and glorification of Allah, bestowing the rewards upon the supplicant. Moreover, reciting this supplication three times during the month of Ramadhan leads to Allah's protection from the hell-fire and a guaranteed place in Paradise. Two Angels are assigned to safeguard the individual from all worldly evils, ensuring their well-being as long as they live. In a final Hadith, Imam Husain ibn `Ali narrated that his father, Amir al-Mo’minin `Ali ibn Abi Talib, entrusted him with the task of memorizing and preserving this supplication. He encouraged its recitation, emphasizing its inclusion of 1,000 names of Allah, including the Greatest Name of Allah (Ism-e-A`dham).
