| Video Discription | As part of our literacy development focus, which supports our goal of quality education, last year we partnered with the Ducere Foundation to deliver inspiring creative writing master classes to teachers and students in Southern Uganda. The collaborative program developed over 12 months together specifically focuses on developing the creative writing skills of teachers and students from Primary 6 to Senior 2. These sessions encouraged students to pull inspiration from their own imagination, stories from real life and stories from their elders. Skills such as story structure, story creation framework, descriptive skills, creating characters and setting scenes were also taught. After only a few short weeks of developing their skills, over 1000 personally written stories were collected. From there, the best were chosen to be part of the African Children Stories Collection, which we're proud to say have been turned into four books that have just been published! We couldn't be more proud of the incredible standard and effort put into each and every story making up this collection, and we thank Ducere for partnering with us on this incredible initiative. Over a week in April this year, we launched the books across five villages in Southern Uganda. School communities came together in a beautiful way to celebrate the work of their peers, highlighting the importance of literacy development. Parents and caregivers of student authors attended the events, bringing the wider community together. It was awesome to see their overwhelming pride and involvement in another amazing school opportunity.
