| Video Discription | El Cid, whose actual name was Rodrigo Díaz de Vivar, was a medieval Spanish mercenary. He lived during the 11th century and played a significant role in the ongoing conflict between the Christians in northern Spain and the Muslim Taifas of the Iberian Peninsula. He was nicknamed "El Cid", from the arabic "El Sayyid", which means "the Lord" , after his many millitary prowesses. There is a strong contrast in the way Muslims and Christians look at this character. From the Christian perspective, he was deemed a Reconquista Hero. But was he really ?
