The National Democratic Alliance, the NDA, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi's nationalist party BJP, is currently ahead in the count. But early trends indicate its victory will not be the landslide forecast. The NDA appears on track to win about 300 of the 543 seats available. The opposition INDIA Alliance, which includes the once-dominant Congress Party, is leading in around 230 seats. Modi is on course to retain power for a historic third term, but without the supermajority he aimed for.
