The past and the future are recognised for the impostors that they are, and the Here and Now become the guiding forces of life. Mindfulness brings recognition of the Oneness that exists between you and ALL else. As Patanjali teaches, this is the highest form of all meditation, when there is no contemplation, just a state of ISness. This state of Mindfulness can be attained, without much effort, by all. It needs consistent practice, but more than that it needs a firm intention to move away from the conditioned belief in separation and duality.
