Microsoft Excel Tutorial: Excel Trick: Return from Select Precedents - Keyboard Shortcuts, Mouse Method, and VBA Macro | MrExcel Podcast.
Welcome to another episode of the MrExcel podcast! In this episode, we will be discussing a useful Excel trick known as "Return from Select Precedents". This trick allows you to easily navigate between cells that are referenced in a formula, without having to manually click on each cell.
The idea for this trick was first introduced to me by my friend Howard in New York City. It involves turning off the "Allow editing directly in cells" option and using a double click to select all the precedents of a cell. This can be done using a keyboard shortcut or with the help of a simple VBA macro.
To use the keyboard shortcut, simply press Ctrl+[ to select all the precedents and then press Ctrl+] to go back to the original cell. However, if you prefer using the mouse, you will need to turn off the "Allow editing directly in cells" option. This will allow you to double click on a cell to select its precedents. To go back to the original cell, you can either press Ctrl+] or use the "GoBack" macro that we will be creating in this episode.
To create the "GoBack" macro, we will be using the Application.SendKeys function in VBA. This function is often criticized for being unreliable, but in this case, it works perfectly. Once the macro is created, you can add it to your Quick Access Toolbar for easy access. Simply right-click on the toolbar, select "Customize Quick Access Toolbar", and add the "GoBack" macro under the "Macros" section.
I hope you found this episode helpful and learned something new about navigating through Excel. Don't forget to try out these tricks and let me know how they work for you. Thank you for tuning in to the MrExcel podcast, and I'll see you next time for another informative episode. Don't forget to like, share, and subscribe for more Excel tips and tricks!"

Return from Select Precedents
Today's Podcast focuses on a question that Mark asks about a trick that not many people know: You can select all of a Formula's Precedent Cells using the Mouse or Keyboard. Yet, there doesn't seem to be an easy way to return to the Original Cell using just the Mouse. In Episode #1719, Bill shows us how to Select Precedents with the Keyboard *or* the Mouse; how to go back to the Original Cell with the Keyboard, and a One-line Macro to go back to the Original Cell using the 'Cringe-Worthy' SendKeys method in VBA.
