What was their experience like growing up as a Latter Day Saint? What did they appreciate about their experience and what did they regret? I put the word out and 9 former Mormons responded. These are their stories. DISCLAIMER: One question that I was asked by many of my guests was, “what is the purpose of this video?” I wanted to make it clear. My goal is NOT to convince anyone to leave the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Neither was my goal to convince anyone to convert to Mormonism when I interviewed Elder Dufrain and Elder Garcia. This is an important perspective to have when watching any episode of i’m Listening. When talking about paganism, atheism, abortion, or any other social justice/ religious subjects the overwhelming purpose is to build empathy and compassion even when we may disagree about very important questions. This show is for the purpose of understanding where people come from. In short, to build bridges... not walls.
