| Video Discription | 파묘 “EXHUMA” Movie Review - Exploring Supernatural Mysteries and Masterful Korean Horror Tension Exhuma revolves around a group consisting of a pair of young shamans, one feng shui expert, and one graveyard worker. Essentially, these four individuals are hired to resolve the supernatural disturbances experienced by a wealthy family. That's the premise in a nutshell. If someone says this film has a vibe similar to The Wailing, well... we agree. The supernatural horror treatment attempted by Exhuma truly reminds us of The Wailing, both visually and in terms of the story and the form of its threat. The film is divided into 6 chapters, and overall, the escalation of horror increases in each chapter. It might feel slow in the first 2 or 3 chapters. But after that, the story becomes more intriguing, and the terror and mystery become more curious. Not only does it successfully create tension with various types of horror in the first 3 chapters, but the film also manages to arouse extra curiosity in the next 3 chapters. It's not just about being scared, but also about being curious about "What really happened?" This film is not the type of horror film filled with annoying jump scares. Exhuma will entertain while also providing terror to its audience with an engaging story, finely crafted mysteries, and complemented by some creepy sightings and visuals. Not to mention, we really enjoyed watching the performances of Kim Go-Eun, Lee Do-Hyun, Choi Min-Sik & Yoo Hae-Jin, who were really cool here. The enjoyable dynamics of these 4 main characters make watching enjoyable. Scary, frightening, but also making us care about the fate of the four of them. Unfortunately, for some reason, as we entered the latter half, the tension of horror felt diminished. It's like we were taken on an exciting ride from the beginning to the end, but when it comes to facing the "final boss," the climax doesn't feel impactful enough. The peak of excitement seems to have already been reached and found its climax in chapter 4 or 5, and in the final chapter, it's like "oh well," as a conclusion to all the conflicts that have occurred. Although it falters in the latter half, Exhuma manages to offer an interesting horror sensation. Not only does it successfully create tension with all the supernatural disturbances presented, but it's engaging story provides an exciting feeling that makes us want to watch from beginning to end. #exhuma #koreanmovie #파묘 #kimgoeun |
