| Video Discription | What an awful final Q3 lap for Alonso • Wasted energy on his outlap trying to get Sainz meaning less was available for the push lap • Most of the outlap was spent fighting with Sainz, not protecting the tyres and bringing them up to temperature • Alonso had a snap during Turn 6, making any possibility of an improvement nullified. To make matters worse, on Alonso and Stroll’s first Q3 lap, they were on used softs. By my calculations, the difference between a fresh and used set in Q3 was worth 0.4s~ (from Albon’s time improvement) With that, if all went to plan, Alonso could’ve lined up around P6~ (factoring in the fact that Sainz would’ve improved too) |
