| Video Discription | SHOCKING moment a man's fishing lure goes through his friend's NOSE. When Matt Wallace went fishing with a friend, he wasn’t expecting to become the catch of the day himself. The popular angler was competing in the Barra Bonanza competition near Cairns, in far-north Queensland, when a mate’s wayward hook pierced his nose. Event organisers have told Daily Mail Australia the event was a ‘freak accident,’ saying they had never seen anything like it in former competitions. ‘It was a real shock when they brought the boat back,’ organiser Dan Hammersley told Daily Mail Australia. ‘He must have just swung back and it went straight through his nose. I imagine he was pretty embarrassed, but he's all good and laughing now.’ He said Wallace didn’t let the injury dampen his spirits, posing on the brag mat and handing the image into the base camp for a weigh in. Hammersley has been hooked himself when he was younger but said it's the first time it happened in one of his contests. Both Wallace and his friend won a prize on the day, but the number one position went to Ben Tunsted and Dylan Brier-Mills. The pair caught 16 barramundi over the weekend to claim victory in the team event, with a whopping total of 13.69 metres of fish. |
