To the uninitiated, this may seem complicated and confusing. Well, here's a quick overview of a few common terms. You can often hear traders say they are in a long or short position( can also be used in a long or short position). This expression refers to the direction of their trade. Being in a long position means that you have bought in anticipation of a price increase. Being in a short position means that you have sold, hoping that the price will fall. These two concepts denote the direction of the market as a whole. Bullish market means that it grows, the bear falls. Most markets have a sell price and a buy price. They are also known as Bid (bid) - sale price and Ask (ask) - purchase price. The difference between these prices is called spread. The size of the spread depends on a number of factors, including liquidity, or in other words, how easy it is to buy or sell an asset without affecting its price. As a rule, the more buyers and sellers in the market, the more liquidity and the smaller the spread. Some dealing products such as CFD can be traded using leverage. This is when you can open a large position in the market by having a relatively small Deposit known as margin. However, your profit or loss will be calculated on the basis of a full position, which means that your income or your losses can significantly exceed the amount of margin, sometimes several times. To protect yourself, you can use a stop loss order to reduce your risk. It automatically closes your trade if the market moves a certain distance against you. Take Profit order has a completely different meaning. With this order, you can close a trade if the market moves in your direction and thus fix the profit. Using Stop Loss and Take Profit orders you can estimate your maximum potential profit or loss before placing a trade, so you don't need to spend all day monitoring your positions. So this was a very quick overview of some of the terms you might come across.
