Landrieu says he hasn't officially endorsed a particular candidate but feels Joe Biden is the candidate most capable of defeating Trump in 2020. Landrieu criticized President Trump's references to the Civil War and lynching and portraying himself as a victim of lynching when describing the ongoing impeachment inquiry. Landrieu's comments come as he releases a 90-page report about race relations in the South. The report, titled "Divided by Design," is based on surveys and interviews with people in 28 communities in 13 Southern states and describes conflicting views on racism among African Americans, Latinos and whites. The report also celebrates efforts to bridge racial gaps but says segregation and inequality remain major barriers.
