| Video Discription | HOW I Cook Pan Fried Dumplings (From Frozen!!) Who doesn’t love some good comfort dumplings??!! Honestly, these bad boys are probably one of my favourite childhood memories growing up in a Chinese Canadian household. Personally, I prefer pan fried over boiled… even though the boiled has a little less calories (no use of oil). A GOLDEN CRISPY texture on one side 🤤, and a side that’s soft and delicate filling on the other. Simply put, this technique is just steaming the dumplings first and then searing them in the same pan!! 🤷🏻♂️ Side note: I learned this technique from burning many gyozas 😅 and dropping them on the floor 🤫 working as a line cook in a ramen restaurant when I had a pre-quarter life crisis after graduating university. THE TECHNIQUE: 1️⃣ Take your favourite chinese/japanese/korean dumplings out of the freezer!! 2️⃣ Turn on a frying pan to high heat and add dumplings but make sure they’re not clumped together. 3️⃣Add just enough water to cover the pan and ~⅓ of the dumplings. Cover with a lid or tin foil and let the dumplings steam for a couple min. 4️⃣ When the water all evaporates, add a small drizzle of the oil of your preference to coat the bottom of the dumplings and pan. Don’t move the dumplings!!! This will allow the bottom of the dumplings to crisp up nicely and add that nice golden crisp. Fry for a couple minutes until done to your preference. 5️⃣ Use a spatula or flat utensil and gently remove the dumplings from the pan (the bottoms will be a little stuck so just hit the bottom of the dumpling on an angle from the side to unstick).
